I like the Aorus name and brand - at least they're trying something different. Although I can't get past the "bird shaking its fist at someone" image.
And I don't mind at all about the sponsored post - it's mentioned three times in the first third of the page so it's not like they're trying to hide it.
100% all for sponsored content. It's clearly labeled and helps pay the site's various operating costs.
Aorus is a stupid branding with their gape-mouth-or-flexing-arm-can't-really-tell-which graphic designed to appeal to tweens and teens or such adult computer DIY sorts that still have that childhood mentality (lots and lots of those in the market so may as well appeal to the mindless man children), but it must be landing sales since deformed-bird has been around for a number of years.
I have quite a few Gigabyte products, All LEDs turned off, no side window - quite adult - the Aorus name is a little goofy, and the logo is a eagle - which is totally irrelevant. Aorus is Gigabyte's gaming and higher end branding.
Asus has Republic of Gamers - where is this exactly?
Most branding and names are getting ridiculous, in and out of the computer market - so this is no different. When I buy Aorus, I don't care how it looks, the logos, etc - I know I am getting a quality product that will not be seen from outside of my windowless case.
You do you and don't worry about it. I won't be inside of your home looking at your computer hardware just as much as you need not worry that all of my computers are low-end, sub-$100 USD dumpster dives off eBay. If GapeEagle does the job, then rock it like a boss or whatever.
While I haven't used Gigabyte motherboards, their GPUs seem to be quite stable. One of my older rigs has a Gigabyte Radeon HD 5770 that looks like the batmobile and it's been rock stable since purchase under a pretty high amount of use (not max load, but hours of uptime).
From what I understand, Gigabyte also contracts to make boards (along with MSI, and I think ASRock), so there's a chance you're using a board made by Gigabyte as well. Gaming brands subsidize lower end consumer tech, so I wouldn't be that critical.
I don't currently own a desktop PC and haven't since around 2013. There are a couple of 11.6 inch screen equipped laptops - Acer ES1-111M-C7DE with a Celeron n2840 and Dell Latitude 3160 with a Pentium n3700 - running Windows 10 and Linux Mint respectively. Maybe Gigabyte made the motherboards in them, but I rather doubt that would be the case. I don't really like working at a desktop PC and really, most of my computing is happening on a phone these days. The little budget laptops that I picked up as used systems in the past couple of years go a week or more at times without being turned on. Even though I'm an information tech engineer, I just don't have much reason to mess around with a x86 PC of any sort outside of a work-issued laptop.
...but this then will leaves ASUS' newely appointed marketing head for the PRoG brand unhappy, starting a fervorous campaign for PRoG absorbing the RoG product lines and becoming ASUS' only worldwide brand for gaming...
Yeah, should NEVER cover a new product launch at a tech site. Otherwise the Kiddies will wonder what's worse, The Aorus name or Sponsored Post articles.

Man a standard wall socket will trip the circuit breaker at 15A, can you imagine having to find a way to plug in 100 sockets to drive that cpu to 1440A?
Sad we have to correct someone who doesn't understand anything. Don't even need to get into AC vs DC power or how a 120V circuit can be at 20A and the same load on a 208/240V circuit is 10A.
Or how power stages are typically way over designed, and operated at well under their rated capacity.
If he goes at looks at the amps put out by a small 120V MIG welder, he would be equally baffled.
One can hope he was trying to be clever, but i learned along time ago to never underestimate the stupidity of people.
Ah, come on... education is totally overrated. You can go through life while enjoying yourself without having any education whatsoever. Stop looking at me like that...
I feel like writing this more in the style of the writing present on the website would look better on Gigabyte, but I understand this probably wasn't produced specifically for Anandtech.
It's interesting to see the things Gigabyte pumps up -- one of the highest-variance components in a motherboard tends to be the audio implementation, and this piece reveals they only really focused on it on one board. That's an immediate disqualifier for every other board in the piece, imo.
I wish this sponsored post-article had different styling compared to "normal"-articles. Maybe change background colors or something, so that you really notice that this is a paid commercial and not your usual high quality analysis Anandtech-article. Thinning the line between journalism and paid advertisement is not good, Im not sure anyone at Anandtech has any real journalism education?
Hmm, asking about real journalism education? I agree. Anandtech should be less about those shiny blinky consumer computer mobile tech toys, and be more like Reuters.
I had the Z370 Aorus Gaming 7 and am now using the AX370 Aorus Gaming K7. Both boards worked well so I'm partial towards Gigabyte and always take an interest in their new offerings. The new lineup looks pretty good. Too bad I can't stick a Ryzen on one of these boards. :)
Oh yeah, I have absolutely no problem with this being a sponsored post. AT has been upfront and I don't get the negativity in some of the comments. AT has bills to pay as well, folks.

That's 1440 amps at vcore voltage. So, like 1.2-1.5 volts. It's not really more than your standard 15 amp breaker at 120 volts.Deicidium369 - Friday, May 1, 2020 - link

This is hard sell AF. Why put so much effort on a DOA lineup.
